Username moderation before the first interaction.
Analyze usernames to detect harmful, explicit or sensitive content before it becomes part of your platform. Bodyguard considers the full username before applying classifications, helping distinguish harmful content from words used in an unrelated context.
Moderate usernames with context.
Bodyguard analyzes the complete username string and returns one or more classifications describing what was detected. Unlike text moderation, usernames use a flat taxonomy without additional signals such as type, severity or target.
The analysis is context-aware. A potentially problematic term isn't automatically classified when its meaning changes as part of the complete username.
This provides a simple moderation result that can be integrated directly into your platform.
Detect what users put in their names.
Bodyguard's username moderation taxonomy covers four categories, from harmful and explicit content to personal information.
Harmful Content
Detect abusive, discriminatory and extremist content within usernames. Includes signals related to insults, racism, misogyny, LGBTQIA+ phobia, body shaming and extremism.
Explicit Content
Identify usernames containing explicit or inappropriate references. Includes signals related to sexually explicit content and illegal drugs.
Personal Information
Detect sensitive personally identifiable information shared directly within a username. Includes signals such as phone numbers, email addresses, physical addresses and government IDs.
Neutral
Recognize benign, everyday or ambiguous usernames that don't match another classification. Neutral is the default classification when no violation is detected.
Integrate username moderation into your platform.
Send the username and source ID to Bodyguard through the Username Analysis API. The response returns the classifications detected within the username.
The endpoint uses the same API key authentication as the rest of the Bodyguard API, making username moderation part of the same integration environment as your other moderation capabilities.
